DEKAL Jazz Guitars

DEKAL was formed in 2004 after Alistair and Derek completed a recording of a cd of jazz/blues tunes that they  enjoyed playing together. Both Alistair and Derek have played in various bands through the years and performed many times in blues/rock/country and club bands, both enjoy jazz music and are fans of the tunes of Cole Porter/Gershwin and love the brat pack style of Sinatra etc.

Having enjoyed playing and listening to jazz music for many years they decided to turn their hand to  a jazz set and worked on their own guitar based arrangements of mainly jazz standards – vocal and instrumental versions of tunes with the aim of creating a small format jazz guitar duo that could entertain at hotels, restaurants, functions and music festivals. They recently added many more vocal tunes of the brat pack era to their set with an emphasis more on providing more of a show rather than just background instrumental music.

Also, they have added a percussionist - George - to the line-up, who complements their sound with the congo/bongo/symbols/brushes, together with Alistair’s strong vocal,  and state of the art small PA equipment, now have an excellent sound for restaurants and hotels and functions where a jazz style outfit playing real music (no backing tapes) is appreciated.

Their format is adaptable to the venue- core line-up is Alistair and Derek as a duo, or  can add percussionist (George) where the venue is suited.

They can also add Yvonne to the line-up when the venue is suitable - she has a fine  jazz/blues/country voice.
